Inquest to begin following death of Guildford barber in Alton crash

An inquest into the death of a Guildford barber, killed in an Alton crash, will be held today (May 23). 

28-year-old Nicholas Davey, of Coopers Road, Guildford, died from his injuries a day after the A31 accident.

It happened on Wednesday, March 8.

The collision involved Mr Davey's grey Suzuki Swift and a silver Audi A4.

He was taken to Southampton General Hospital - but died on Thursday (March 9).

The driver of the Audi, a 55-year-old woman from South Wonston, suffered minor injuries.

Tributes were laid outside the barber shop where Nick worked following the accident:

Mr Davey's family also issued a statement after his death expressing their heartbreak:"Nick was a much loved son, brother and a doting father who leaves behind a young son.

"He was a quirky young man and a talented barber who had a huge zest for life and a kind and generous heart.

"He had a love of tattoos, music, West Ham, sport and travel.

"As a family we are heartbroken and will miss him terribly."

The driver of the Audi, a 55-year-old woman from South Wonston, suffered minor injuries.

Surrey Police confirmed Mr Davey's two-year-old son was in the car with him but uninjured in the collision .

The inquest will be held in Basingstoke Law Courts, in Basingstoke, Hampshire today May 23.
