£30m Bordon school plans take big leap forward

Published at 6:01am 10th March 2017.

Plans for a complete rebuild of a school in Bordon have taken a big step forward.

£30m has been earmarked for Mill Chase Academy.

Now designs for the new building have been submitted to the council.

If approved, the school will move to a new site on Budds Lane which was previously owned by the Ministry of Defence.

It would sit adjacent to Bordon Infant and Junior Schools.

Senior Leaders at Mill Chase Academy and the University of Chichester Academy Trust say they have worked with Hampshire County Council to design the new school buildings.

Sue Samson the Chief Executive Officer of the Academy Trust said: "Ofsted recognised the high-quality of teaching and leadership in the school and stated that it has 'an ethos of high expectation and aspiration which is central to the life of the school..

"It is this ethos which will pervade the new building and the opportunities provided for students at Mill Chase."

Headteacher Paul Hemmings said: "This is an exciting opportunity to provide state of the art facilities for our students who Ofsted recognised are already making increasingly good progress across a wide range of subjects.

"The new buildings will enable us to provide them with the high quality learning environment that they deserve."

Councillor Peter Edgar, executive member for Education at Hampshire County Council, added: "A successful school is an essential element of a successful community.

"Providing new school buildings and facilities the Mill Chase Academy will support the transformation of educational opportunity in Whitehill and Bordon."
