LISTEN: How people with special needs are becoming rock stars in Alton

Music sessions at Alton Community Centre are building confidence in young adults with special needs. 

When a woman with three musically gifted autistic sons was looking for a group for them to join, Maria Elliott from the centre set up the 'Jam Sessions', thanks to funding from Hampshire County Council. 

The group has now been running for four years, reaching out to youngsters with a wide range of learning difficulties. 

The members learn mainly guitar, drums and percussion instruments, and are given the freedom to plan their own sessions.
