Man attacked outside Alton bar

A man has been injured after he was punched outside a bar in Alton.

It happened on Saturday night (March 3) - police were called soon after 9:30pm to reports of  an assault outside the Cellar Vie bar in Westbrook Walk.

The 26 year old was reportedly punched several times - causing him to fall over and bang his head - and lose consciousness.

He was treated for his injuries at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.

An 18 year old man was also reportedly assaulted when he tried to intervene.

A 26-year-old man from Alton has been arrested on suspicion of wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He has been released but remains under investigation
