Surrey and Hampshire 'clued-up' on broadband contracts

Published at 1:47pm 14th August 2017.

It looks like Surrey and Hampshire are among the most clued-up when it comes to getting a good deal on broadband services.

Nationally, three quarters of households are paying too much because they don't know they are out of contract.

But only one town in our area makes it into the top 100 for worst offenders.

Guildford is listed at number 55, with no other Surrey and Hampshire towns featuring.

A study has found most major providers hike up their prices by an average of 37 per cent once a deal comes to an end.

Consumer expert Sarah Willingham is backing a campaign to force suppliers to let people know when they need to renew: "This isn't on.

"The insurance industry, the energy industry they all let you know when you're reaching the end of your contract.

"With broadband, there's just no appetite for doing it. It's just not on."

Well done Surrey and Hampshire though!
