Flames keep winger McKinney for Elite move

Flames winger Andy Mckinney will be staying with Guildford for the Elite move next season.

The 26 year-old iced 57 times for the side last season, pitching in with 18 goals and 41 points.

The 6’0”, 190lb forward transferred to Surrey for the 2014-2015 season from Manchester Phoenix with whom he helped to a Playoff and League title in consecutive seasons.

He also helped Guildford in securing the 2015-2016 Cup and Playoff double.

Head Coach Paul Dixon said: "Not including under 23 age British players, we have a 19 man game night line-up limit, but we will carry at least 20.

"This means we will have a slightly bigger roster than we can ice on any given night.

"We will be playing against some very high calibre opposition, and we don’t want to challenge ourselves further by trying to play short staffed if we can possibly avoid that.

"It also adds a bit of flexibility for roster selection on the night if everyone is fit for match duty.

"In this context, having a really versatile guy like Andy available to us is very valuable.

"He can cover for anyone up front, foreign or domestic, and he will play a gritty brand of hockey no matter where we ask him to step in.”
