Haslemere Museum is excited to be hosting “Japan: a floating world in print”. Opening on Saturday 29th June, following a Private View for Members, the exhibition will run throughout July and August in the Waverley Room, offering the opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in Japan’s culture, arts and crafts without leaving the charming town of Haslemere. The touring exhibition from Maidstone Museum is a captivating display of Japanese ‘Ukiyo-e' woodcut prints, literally meaning ‘pictures of the floating world’. With dramatic landscapes from the Edo and Meiji print masters, including Hokusai and Hiroshige, to Bijinga prints of beautiful courtesans and the colourful prints of the 20th century from Ogata Gekko, this exhibition is sure to enthral and delight. Admission is by donation and all donations go towards the work of the Museum.
