Job Description
Location: Liphook Hampshire
Salary: Starting at £19500 per annum
Contract: Full time, Permanent
Hours: 12-hour shifts from 7.30am to 7.30pm
Paid breaks
Off-site accommodation provided, if required. 
High Hurlands Homes is a highly respected company with nearly 50 years’ experience supporting young adults with Severe Learning Disabilities in a twenty-two bed Nursing Home and five, three bed Residential Homes.
The specialised care offered is of the highest quality, led by a multidisciplinary team of dedicated managers, nurses and support workers.
The Role:
We are currently looking for enthusiastic and motivated people to support our service users with the everyday challenges of washing, dressing and eating as well as providing support for day-to-day living, such as social activities, sports and hobbies, employment, holidays etc If working in one of our three bedded residential homes you will be required to provide support with general household duties such as cooking and cleaning
You don’t need to have experience, as long as you have a positive attitude and want to improve the lives of those with a learning disability, we will invest in your training and development to enable you to become an outstanding support worker.
Overview:
• To plan, provide and review individual support for the service users for whom you are responsible.
• To respect the service users’ rights, the dignity of the individual and, when possible, to encourage independent skills.
• To provide a happy, loving, stimulating and secure home.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
• To plan individual support needs with senior staff: to maintain and carry out all programmes identified in the support plan.
• To assist in providing, and participate in, motivating and stimulating social and educational activities during service users’ leisure time in order to enhance their quality of life.
• To escort service users for medical appointments, x-rays, visits to parents etc as and when required
• To assist service users to eat a balanced diet using appropriate aids, encouraging independent skills by the use of verbal and physical prompting. To assist nursing staff to care for service users who require artificial feeding.
• Together, with other staff, to maintain a safe, clean and tidy environment in which to live, remembering at all times that High Hurlands is the service users’ home.
• To assist the qualified nurse to administer medication
• To work together with other professionals eg. GP, Physiotherapist and other visiting professionals.
• To carry out motor skills/exercise programmes as advised by the Physiotherapist and encourage communication skills.
