Woking & Sam Beare Hospices (WSBH) is a patient-centred charity based in Surrey committed to providing the best in specialist palliative care. We are looking for an IT Technician to join the IT Manager in the running of all aspects of IT across the organisation.  This is a great opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of IT technologies, software and services. Woking and Sam Beare Hospices have a new state of the art Hospice in Woking, Surrey and are continually working to develop and utilise IT technologies to support this. We are keen to make full use of these technologies and to provide the best experience for our staff and other stakeholders. The IT Support Technician will be someone with a broad knowledge of IT systems, software and hardware. Some experience of working as an IT Support Technician is desirable but you may have just graduated/qualified or gained experience and knowledge in some other way. Good people skills, a calm positive outlook and an aptitude for IT are valued by us as much as current technical skills. You will be a dynamic individual able to support a diverse user base working on a range of technologies. The job will involve supporting all types of IT equipment; printers, laptops, desktops, and telephony together with software support, mainly but not exclusively for the MS Office suite of applications. Support requests are raised by users by an online Helpdesk ticketing system, about half of the role will be responding to these tickets. Over time the IT Technician would be expected to take ownership of a number of IT systems within the organisation and manage these systems independently but with the support of the IT manager and 3rd party vendors. Over the next year we are keen to develop our use of database systems. The IT technician will have the opportunity to work with 3rd party suppliers on these database products and reporting. The IT Support Technician role will be primarily based in Woking, Surrey in a quiet residential area close to some shops with lakeside and a park nearby; onsite parking is available. WSB hospices has teams in both Woking and Weybridge and 16 shops throughout the area. The technician will be required to use their own vehicle to travel to these locations should the need arise; travel expenses will be paid for these journeys.
