The Predictions

Paul Adams from Branston Adams Tax Accountants tells us his predictions ahead of the budget.

  • Changes in Pension relief – 40% relief under threat. Possibly a flat rate of say 33%; or tax relief limited for “older workers”.
  • Freeze or reduction in Tuition Fees (increase in repayment threshold).
  • Reduction in stamp duty for first time buyers – property market has come to a standstill.
  • Change in EIS – either reduction in tax relief and/or abolishing SEIS.
  • Increase in Company Car tax
  • More tax avoidance legislation – ongoing measures.
  • Revisit the perceived tax advantages of self-employment – possible increase in NIC and or dividend tax rate.
