A fast-growing Surrey healthcare company has been named among the UK’s top 100 tech firms.

GlucoRx, a major supplier of quality diabetes products to the NHS, was ranked 70th in the Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100 league table – one of only two in the county and seven in the region to feature.

The healthcare business recorded a 66 per cent sales growth over the past three years.

Published on Sunday, the prestigious league table ranks Britain’s private technology, media and telecoms companies with the fastest-growing sales.

The company, based in Woking, is one of seven companies in the south east of England which have grown their sales by an average of 136 per cent a year over three years to a total of 120 million, and together they now employ more than 500 people.

One of five new entries, GlucoRx works exclusively with the NHS, providing diagnostic and treatment technology for diabetes. Its products include blood glucose meters and insulin pen needles and has saved the NHS £150m in the past three years. Sales hit £24.9m in 2017.

Chris Chapman, Group Managing Director, said: “We are immensely proud to have appeared in the Tech Track 100 for the first time. It’s a vindication of our desire to make a real difference to the care of people with diabetes and we will continuously innovate on their behalf to develop technology with a real purpose.”

Steve McGerr, head of direct commercial at Hiscox Insurance UK, commented: “Tech businesses in southeast of England are thriving thanks to the fearlessness and determination of those that run them. We have great admiration for the talented entrepreneurs that make up the companies on this year’s Tech Track 100.”

Nationally, this year’s Tech Track 100 companies achieved average sales growth over three years of 101 per cent a year to a combined total of £3.3bn. They employ 19,300 staff, having added 14,000 employees to their combined workforce over the period.

London is the most popular location for company headquarters with 58, followed by the north west (11). Of the remainder, seven companies are based in the south east, six in the north east, five in the east, five in the Midlands, three in Wales, two each in Scotland and the south west, and one in Northern Ireland.
